Set PMA Girls' Volleyball up For Success!

St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy (PMA) is a co-educational college-preparatory school in Downey, CA, serving approximately 600 students from South and Southeast Los Angeles. PMA promises its students a university-level educational experience, which is brought out by its range of extracurricular programs, rigorous academic offerings, opportunities to earn college credit, and a supportive faculty and staff who make it possible for students to seize all of these opportunities to learn and grow.

This is an exciting time for Warrior Athletics, with numerous playoff rounds across various programs. Last year, the Girls' Volleyball team had an incredible run, placing as the CIF-SS runners-up and earning their spot in the state tournament, where they advanced to the second round.

In addition to being a contender in competition, the girls' volleyball team is an important facet of the PMA community as it is the most popular sport on campus! Under the new direction of their new coach, Chai Howard, the team is set up for another incredible season.

The mission of our athletics department is to empower student-athletes to develop resilience, perseverance, confidence, and commitment, as well as to boost their self-assurance and maximize their God-given potential in the classroom and in their chosen sport, encouraging a holistic approach to scholar–athletics, as well as a spirit of community.
